IUPAB President visited Biophysical Society of China

A five member delegation lead by Professor Kuniaki Nagayama, the president of the International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB), paid a three day visit to theBiophysical Society of China (BSC) from 26 to 28 November, 2009.

The two party discussion held at the Institute of Biophysics was focused on issues organizing the 17th International Biophysics Congress to be held in Beijing in 2011, such as the meeting’s format, venue, academic topics, keynote speakers, expenses, and so on. The IUPAB delegation later had a tour of the two congress venues selected by the local organizing committee. BSC president, Professor Zihe Rao said that the society will make every effort to organize the congress and make it an "Olympic" event in the international biophysical community. Professor Nagayama expressed his appreciation toward the society for its commitment and hard works in preparing for the congress. He believes that with both sides’ joint efforts, the congress will be a great success. Mr. Yingnan Liang, director of the International Affairs Department of the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST) also expressed that CAST will give full support to the congress.
