Professor Ruiming Xu was announced Vice Director of the Institute of Biophysics by Mr. Guoying Xiang, an official of the Chinese Academy of Sciences during the inauguration ceremony held at IBP in the afternoon of May 11, 2010.

He said that in the future he will work even harder together with all other IBP members to promote the institute’s development and make it a world class institution.　

Professor Ruiming Xu joined IBP in 2008. Before that he had 14 years educational and working experience in USA. He obtained his doctor’s degree in physics in 1990 at Brandeis University. He was previously a Professor at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the New York University. His research is focused on structural studies of gene expression and regulation. He had published many papers on international scientific journals, including Science, Cell, Nature Struct. Biol., PNAS, etc.
