P&G Delegation visited IBP

A five-member delegation lead by Mr. Jeffrey B. Hamner, Vice President of Research and Development Department of the Procter & Gamble Company, paid a visit to the Institute of Biophysics in the afternoon of October 15, 2009 aiming at a comprehensive understanding of the institute’s research and development and exploring the possibility of developing bilateral cooperation.

Professor Rongqiao He, IBP Deputy Director welcomed the delegation at the Zou Chenglu meeting room and gave a brief introduction of the institute. The guests were impressed by the institute’s strength in scientific research and achievements in recent years. Mr. Hamner introduced P&G’s interests, recent development and vision. He expressed the company’s interest in developing collaborations with IBP in such fields as computational and systems biology and so on through joint training of doctoral researchers and cooperative projects.  The delegation later visited the Center for Computational and Systems Biology and communicated with Professor Chang Chen, vice director of the Center.  Lead by Dr. Lei Zhang, director of the International Liaison Office, the delegation also visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences Protein Science Core Facility Center. Mr. Hamner hoped that in the future P&G would carry out some cooperative projects with IBP and take advantage of its advanced equipments and scientific technology.
