Professor Joachim Frank from Columbia University, a world renowned cryo-electron microscopy expert and structural biologist, and a member of the US National Academies, visited the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences on September 7, 2012.
Professor Frank gave a lecture entitled “The ribosome as a brownian machine” in which he introduced the latest progress of his laboratory in resolving high-resolution structure of ribosomal intermediates utilizing cryo-EM as well as their research on near-atomic-resolution structure of ribosome. Many researchers including several PIs attended Professor Frank’s lecture.
Professor Frank later visited IBP’s Biological Imaging Center and had in-depth exchanges with Professors ZHU Ping, SUN Fei and other researchers.
