The Human Brain Recording Center was established in 2008 to focus on joint studies of the human brain with intracranial electrodes. Chinese Institutions include State Key Laboratory of Brain and Cognitive Science at IBP, XuanWu Hospital, BeiJing Hospital, TianTan Hospital, TongRen Hospital and YuQuan Hospital. Researchers from MIT, Harvard Medical School and Priceton University joined this center as US collaborators.
The China-US collaboration in this center has two overall goals. The first goal is to establish a research facility for recording human brain activity (individual neurons, and intracranial EEG and ERP), using intracranial surface as well as depth electrodes. The second goal is to conduct research with the patients, in three research areas.1) The neural representation of global topological perception. 2) The neural basis for selective attention and executive control. 3) The neural basis for memory, including memory for complex objects presented as images or words.
