Research Interests

1. Epigenetic regulation on gene expression and embryonic development

Epigenetic information regulates gene expression. Abnormal epigenetic regulations can lead to birth failure or birth defects. Our team is interested in establishing new technologies to investigate the spatial epigenome. Then, we are interested in understanding the epigenetic reprogramming during embryonic development. We are also likely to study the mechanism and role of epigenetic information during organogenesis.

2. Clinical translational study of epigenetics in reproductive medicine

Our team has invented the method of "PreImplantation DNA methylation screening (PIMS)". PIMS method has established the first molecular biomarker in evaluating the developmental potential of embryos, which has been used in clinics. Now, we are performing randomized clinical trial of PIMS in multiple assisted reproductive technology (ART) center. Moreover, we are establishing artificial intelligent model to select embryos by PIMS. We also investigate other methods to improve the efficiency of ART practice, and reduce the birth defect rate.
