On the afternoon of May 19, 2026, Vladimir Kalanik, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), led a delegation to visit the Institute of Biophysics (IBP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Representatives from the Embassy of Belarus in China, CITIC Construction Co., Ltd., and the Bureau of International Cooperation accompanied the visit. Liu Zhenfeng, Deputy Director of IBP, together with researchers from the institute, met with the delegation.

Deputy Director Liu Zhenfeng welcomed the delegation and introduced the research profile of IBP, expressing the hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Belarusian side in basic science, frontier technologies, and other fields.

President Vladimir Kalanik noted that the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and IBP share many common research interests, and looked forward to establishing closer cooperative ties. Alexander Shepshelev, Director of the Institute of Microbiology of NASB, introduced his institute's research teams and scientific directions.

During the exchange and discussion session, Chen Chang, Liu Jiang, Gao Lizeng, Fan Kelong, and An Lili delivered thematic presentations, followed by in-depth discussions between the two sides. Deputy Director Liu Zhenfeng pointed out that the Belarusian Academy's research on biological enzymes highly aligns with the traditional research directions of IBP's Key Laboratory of Biomacromolecules, and expressed hope for deepened mutual understanding and cooperation in the future. President Vladimir Kalanik spoke highly of IBP's scientific research achievements, and expressed interest in further cooperation in assisted reproductive testing technologies, African swine fever vaccines, and innovative research and development of biomacromolecular drugs.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the High-Field Magnetic Resonance Laboratory and the Biological Imaging Center, and exchanged views on the operation of relevant equipment.
