Research Interests

Viruses are closely related to human health. Viruses and hosts have been engaged in arms races for thousands of years, resulted in hosts evolving sophisticated antiviral defense systems and viruses evolving various molecular mechanisms that hijack or antagonize the host component. Viral genome replication and transcription is one of the most significant life activity, which performed via viral DNA replication complex or viral RNA polymerase. Elucidation of the interaction between the virus and its host and the mechanism of viral genome replication and transcription will be of great significant not only to virology and cell biology, but also to the structure-based development of the antiviral drugs. My research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms of viral genome replication and transcription machinery, as well as the important protein complexes involved in virus-host interactions using the integrated approaches of structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics and cell biology.
