Disulfide formation is one of the key rate-limiting steps in oxidative protein folding, which is vital for the stability of many secretory and cell-surface proteins and redox regulation of protein activities in some cases. Dr. Xi Wang worked on the structure-function relationships and molecular mechanisms of essential enzymes in oxidative protein folding. His recent research interests also include studying the proteostasis regulation and its impacts on human healthspan through a multidisciplinary application of cell biological, biochemical, and structural approaches.
