Artificial Synthesis of Yeast Alanine Transfer RNA (tRNA)
The CAS Institute of Biophysics worked with its partners to accomplish artificial synthesis of yeast alanine transfer RNA (tRNA) in November 1981. It was the first time that scientific workers had ever produced man-made RNA which was found to have the same chemical structure and complete biological activity as natural ones. The work won the institute an award at the National Science Conference in 1978 and a first-class merit citation at the National Natural Science Award in 1987.
