Establishment of this new laboratory was approved by CAS in 2011. Currently it has 36 employees and 93 nonpermanent staff. Among its 9 PIs, 1 is a CAS Member, 1 is a “National Outstanding Young Scientist”, and 6 have received awards from the CAS “BAIRENJIHUA” program. The laboratory focuses on cancer, neurological diseases, infectious (tuberculosis) and other major diseases, and carries out research on the biological functions of noncoding RNA and its role in diseases. Specific research interests include noncoding sequences of genomes, noncoding genes and noncoding RNA, the systematic discovery of new noncoding genes and noncoding RNAs and their structure and function. ?
